SX Server and SXDrive installation instructions

SX Server


After installing SX Server, run sxsetup to setup your first node.

If you are looking for a more comprehensive explanation of how Skylable works, read the SX manual



SX Server Installation instructions:

Debian Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty)
1) Add our public key to your keyring:
# wget -qO - http://cdn.skylable.com/GPG-KEY-skylable.asc | sudo apt-key add -

2) Add the following line to the end of /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://cdn.skylable.com/debian wheezy main

3) Install the sx package:
# apt-get update
# apt-get install sx

4) Optionally also install the S3 compatibility interface:
# apt-get install libres3
Ubuntu 12.04 (precise)
1) Add our public key to your keyring:
# wget -qO - http://cdn.skylable.com/GPG-KEY-skylable.asc | sudo apt-key add -

2) Add the following line to the end of /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://cdn.skylable.com/debian precise main

3) Install the sx package:
# apt-get update
# apt-get install sx

4) Optionally also install the S3 compatibility interface:
# apt-get install libres3
CentOS 5/6/7
1) Create the file /etc/yum.repos.d/skylable.repo with the following content:
[skylable]
name=Skylable
baseurl=http://cdn.skylable.com/centos/$releasever/$basearch/
gpgcheck=0

2) Install the skylable-sx package:
# yum -y install skylable-sx

3) Optionally also install the S3 compatibility interface:
# yum -y install libres3
Fedora 20
1) Create the file /etc/yum.repos.d/skylable.repo with the following content:
[skylable]
name=Skylable
baseurl=http://cdn.skylable.com/fedora/$releasever/$basearch/
gpgcheck=0

2) Install the skylable-sx package:
# yum -y install skylable-sx

3) Optionally also install the S3 compatibility interface:
# yum -y install libres3
OpenSolaris
1) Clone the git repository:
$ git clone http://git.skylable.com/sx sx

2) Compile
$ cd sx
$ ./configure CC=gcc CFLAGS=-m64 LDFLAGS=-m64 && make

3) Become root and install
# make install

4) Optionally also install the S3 compatibility interface:
$ git clone http://git.skylable.com/libres3 libres3
$ cd libres3
$ ./configure && make && make install
From Source (other UNIX, other archs):
1) Download the source code:
$ wget http://cdn.skylable.com/source/sx-1.0.tar.gz

2) Unpack and compile
$ tar xvzf sx-1.0.tar.gz
$ cd sx-1.0
$ ./configure && make

3) Become root and install
# make install

4) Optionally also install the S3 compatibility interface:
$ wget http://cdn.skylable.com/source/libres3-0.9.tar.gz
$ cd libres3-0.9
$ ./configure && make && make install

SXDrive is still in Beta


After installation, right click on the icon in the system tray and click on Settings.
Enter the URI of your cluster and volume (e.g. sx://mycluster/myvol) under "Clustername"
and your secret key under "Secret key".



SX Drive installation instructions:

Debian jessie / Debian sid:
1) Add our public key to your keyring:
# wget -qO - http://cdn.skylable.com/GPG-KEY-skylable.asc | sudo apt-key add -

2) Add the following line to the end of /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://cdn.skylable.com/debian jessie main

3) Install the sxdrive package:
# apt-get update
# apt-get install sxdrive
Ubuntu
1) Add our public key to your keyring:
# wget -qO - http://cdn.skylable.com/GPG-KEY-skylable.asc | sudo apt-key add -

2) Add the following line to the end of /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://cdn.skylable.com/debian trusty main

3) Install the sxdrive package:
# apt-get update
# apt-get install sxdrive
CentOS 7
1) Create the file /etc/yum.repos.d/skylable.repo with the following content:

2) Install the sxdrive package:
yum -y install sxdrive
